Apparently, even the local speedways are no longer a sacred place for men as sport after sport reluctantly surrenders to its inherent male dominance to the "gentler sex". This time, the ladies have penetrated the outlaw modified class racing division, and make no mistake , a local girl is at the wheel !!! Her name is Heidi Herzog and she is one of 3 women currently racing this type of vehicle, sort of resembling a souped-up lobster trap. Herzog, an Islamorada local took to racing 2 years ago, finishing 16th out of 25 in her first race, and for her there has been no turning back.
